Chincoteague Island on Virginia’s Eastern Shore offers dozens of choices for exploring the channels, coves and marshes of the waters surrounding Chincoteague and Assateague Islands.
Whether your preference is a quiet sailboat cruise or a fun and scenic water view nature cruise you will enjoy the pristine water ways, saltwater marshes, scenic views of ponies and wildlife often seen only by boat. A favorite among many visitors are the several sunset cruises that get up close to the wild ponies and offer many opportunities to see egrets, terns and many of the more than 250 species of birds that migrate to or reside in the wetlands surrounding our islands. The captains make the cruises even more interesting with information about the history and significance of the Island’s natural resources.
Many charter boats are available for off-shore deep sea fishing in the Atlantic Ocean with catches of tuna, marlin and other game fish. In-shore fishing in the bays yields catches of flounder, croaker, sea trout and bass. Our Captains are very experienced with the best fishing spots and most provide the tackle and bait though you may bring your own.
