Maddox Family Campground

Maddox Family Campground welcomes you to Chincoteague Island, Virginia’s only Resort Island located on Virginia’s Eastern Shore. We offer the best in recreational camping, while being the closest to Assateague Beach.

As you leave the campground for a day of adventure and fun you will find we are only one-half mile from the Assateague Bridge. This bridge, commonly known as the gateway to nature, will take you through the National Wildlife Refuge. While on the refuge you may observe many species of wildlife, as well as our famous Chincoteague Wild Ponies. The refuge also has a wide variety of nature activities including trails, bird watching, crabbing, clamming, oystering and fishing.

Maddox Family Campground has more than 550 sites spread out over 200 acres of wooded area where you will discover a new world in outdoor recreation. We offer peaceful, quiet camping with a beautiful view of the Assateague Lighthouse. Our campground is designed to accommodate all ages – singles, couples and families. Whether you are an RVer or tenter you will find camping and living at its best with us.
